How Do We Perform This Surgery ?

Face; is one of the most important parts of the body in aesthetic field as the main focus point of our appearance. Additionally, face is an important region for vital functions such as eating, breathing, talking, tasting and smelling.
There are lower and upper jaw bones among the bones of the face. Dents that are important for speaking and chewing are located on these bones. At the same time the jaw bones support the soft tissues of the face, and they assist on the formation of the contours. The relation between two jaws bones and their appearances are intimately associated with their function.

Maxillofacial surgery is performed in order to correct jaw bones, lineup of dents or disorders. Primarily sequence of teeth is corrected with the help of orthodontic braces and then positions of jaws are corrected by performing surgery. So function and appearance is corrected simultaneously.

Who is a candidate for ortodonthic surgery?

The people whose jaw (upper or lower)  is in front or back than the other, people whose upper and lower teeth are not touching each other,

This treatment mentioned above may take 6 months -2 year. Maxillofacial surgery takes about 3.5 - 6 hours.  Maxillofacial surgery is a surgical procedure performed under general anesthesia. Only the upper or lower jaw can be operated according to disfigurement but also if necessary both jaws can be operated in the same session and it is called as “Double Jaw Surgery”. After surgery, one or two nights hospitalization may be required. It may be required to interconnecting the upper and lower jaws with orthodontic wires and dams. Jaws should remain connected for 2-6 weeks. During this time, you may need to use special liquid food for nutritional support.
